International Conventions and Agreements
Azerbaijan is already a party or is in progress of ratifying some of the important international and regional agreements, which cover or are related to the field of water resources. Azerbaijan also, where appropriate, cooperates with its neighbouring countries on the water-related issues within the frames of bilateral agreements. In addition, the country is involved in important global and regional initiatives, and aims at approximating to European standards in integrated water resources management.

EU-Azerbaijan Partnership and Cooperation Agreement The EU and Azerbaijan signed the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement in 1996. This agreement entered into force in 1999. Partnership priorities were also endorsed on 28 September 2018 by the Cooperation Council. The agreement aims –among others- protecting, preserving and improving the environment for present and future generations. In that context, improving the water management systems is one of the priorities set by both the EU and Azerbaijan.

"Sərhəddən keçən su axınlarının və beynəlxalq göllərin mühafizəsi və istifadəsi haqqında" Konvensiya

“Azərbaycan Respublikası Hökuməti və Rusiya Federasiyası Hökuməti arasında Samur transsərhəd çayının su ehtiyatlarının səmərəli istifadəsi və mühafizəsi sahəsində əməkdaşlıq haqqında” Saziş Hazırkı Sazişin məqsədləri bu Sazişin 3-cü maddəsində müəyyən olunan su bölgüsü prinsiplərinə əsasən Tərəflərin dövlətlərinin Samur transsərhəd çayının su ehtiyatları ilə təmin olunması, həmçinin Samur çayının deltasında təbii ekosistemin saxlanılmasıdır.
